BANGKA, PERKARANEWS.COM — Bagi Darmadi, siswa SMP Negeri 3 Rangsang, Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti, Riau, kabar tentang beasiswa Pemali Boarding School (PBS) dari PT Timah Tbk semula hanyalah informasi biasa yang disampaikan gurunya di kelas. Namun, siapa sangka informasi itu menjadi awal perjalanan besar yang mengubah hidupnya.
Setiba di rumah, rasa ingin tahu mendorong Darmadi mencari tahu lebih banyak. Ia membuka informasi lengkap tentang PBS, lalu menunjukkannya kepada orang tua. Tanpa ragu, dukungan penuh mengalir dari keluarganya.
Dengan bimbingan guru-gurunya, Darmadi mulai menyiapkan berkas pendaftaran, mengurus administrasi, dan melengkapi persyaratan. Bahkan, tim PT Timah datang langsung ke rumahnya untuk melakukan verifikasi kepada orang tua, memastikan semua data yang ia berikan sesuai dengan kenyataan.
Perjalanan seleksi tidaklah singkat. Darmadi harus melewati tes akademik, psikotes, hingga wawancara. Baginya, tahap paling menantang adalah psikotes, terutama saat mengerjakan soal matematika.
“Seleksinya lumayan panjang. Yang paling susah itu di psikotes karena ada tes matematikanya. Madi berusaha banget menyelesaikannya dengan baik,” kenangnya.
Hari pengumuman menjadi momen yang tak terlupakan. Saat mengecek hasil seleksi di situs resmi, ia hampir tak percaya namanya tertera sebagai salah satu penerima beasiswa PBS.
“Alhamdulillah, Madi lolos seluruh seleksi dan berhasil dapat beasiswa Pemali Boarding School dari PT Timah,” ucapnya penuh syukur.
Kini, Darmadi resmi menjadi bagian dari siswa PBS, sekolah berasrama yang dikenal memiliki fasilitas lengkap, pembinaan intensif, serta pendidikan yang mengasah karakter, kedisiplinan, dan kepemimpinan. Dari asrama, ia mengirimkan pesan hangat untuk keluarganya di kampung halaman.
“Untuk orang tua Madi, semoga sehat selalu. Jangan khawatir, Madi di sini baik-baik saja. Terima kasih sudah merawat Madi dari kecil sampai sekarang. Untuk PT Timah, terima kasih banyak sudah membuat program beasiswa untuk anak-anak seperti Madi. Semoga PT Timah semakin sukses dan jaya,” tuturnya.
Program beasiswa Pemali Boarding School sendiri telah berjalan lebih dari dua dekade. Melalui program ini, PT Timah memberikan beasiswa penuh kepada pelajar berprestasi dari wilayah operasionalnya.
