BANGKA BARAT,PERKARANEWS – Suasana yang asri dan rimbun dengan pohon-pohon yang menjulang tinggi mengelilingi Taman Tirta Budaya Huta Kota Mentok, Kabupaten Bangka Barat. Beragam flora dan fauna hidup di kawasan konservasi ini.

Hutan Kota Mentok merupakan ruang terbuka hijau yang dikelola oleh PT Timah sebagai bagian dari pengelolaan lingkungan yang berkelanjutan. Kawasan ini menjadi habitat alami bagi berbagai jenis flora dan fauna endemik.

Pengelolaan Hutan Kota Mentok merupakan salah satu bentuk komitmen perusahaan terhadap pelestarian lingkungan. Inisiatif ini tidak hanya bertujuan menjaga kelestarian lingkungan, tetapi juga melindungi keberadaan flora dan fauna endemik yang terdapat di wilayah tersebut.

Kawasan seluas 5,6 hektar ini menjadi rumah bagi berbagai jenis tumbuhan dan satwa yang khas dari Pulau Bangka, termasuk beberapa spesies burung endemik dan pohon-pohon yang memiliki nilai ekologis tinggi.

Berdasarkan pemantauan pada tahun 2024 beragam flora yang ada di Hutan Kota Mentok, yaitu laban (Vitex pinnata), Medang (Litsea elliptica), Pelempang (Adinandra dumosa), Gaharu (Alstonia scholaris), ketapang (Terminalia catappa) Akasia daun kecil (Acacia auriculiformis) dan pelawan merah (Tristaniopsis merguensis) sebanyak 100 individu (batang).

Sedangkan fauna yang ada di Hutan Kota Mentok sebanyak 21 spesies yang terdiri dari Burungmadu kelapa (Anthreptes malacensis), Burungmadu Sriganti (Cyniris jugularis), Elang Bondol (Haliastur indus) cekakak sungai (Butorides striata), Layang-layang batu (Hirundo tahitica), Kirik-kirik biru (Merops viridis), Rusa Sambar (Rusa
unicolor), Pelatuk merah sebanyak 1 individu (ekor), kadalan saweh, Ikan Bebeuw (Sundadanio gargula), Tempalak igik labu (Parosphromenus juelinae), Bebilis mirah (Paedocypris sp), Tempalak punggor (Betta schalerii), Tempalak budu (Betta chloropharyx), Kelik sulong (Encheloclarias tapeinopterus), Ikan belang baju (Eirmotus sp) dan Tempalak gambut.

Dengan menjaga keberadaan flora dan fauna ini, PT Timah turut berperan dalam menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem setempat.

“PT Timah berkomitmen untuk melakukan pengelolaan lingkungan yang berkelanjutan, salah satunya menjaga keanekaragaman hayati lokal sekaligus memberikan edukasi lingkungan kepada masyarakat,” ujar Departement Head Corporate Communication PT Timah, Anggi Siahaan.

Hutan Kota Mentok juga dimanfaatkan sebagai lokasi edukatif dan rekreatif bagi masyarakat dan pelajar. Masyarakat dapat mempelajari pentingnya menjaga kelestarian alam secara langsung melalui kunjungan dan kegiatan di kawasan ini.

PT Timah secara berkelanjutan melakukan pemantauan dan perawatan terhadap kawasan hutan ini, termasuk penanaman pohon endemik, pengendalian spesies invasif, serta penyediaan sarana pendukung seperti jalur interpretatif dan papan informasi edukatif.

“Menjaga lingkungan bukan hanya soal tanggung jawab, tapi juga investasi jangka panjang untuk generasi mendatang. Hutan Kota Mentok adalah salah satu langkah nyata perusahaan dalam mewujudkan hal itu,” tambahnya.
