PANGKALPINANG,PERKARANEWS – PT Timah Tbk terus menunjukkan komitmennya dalam menjaga keberlanjutan lingkungan dengan menggagas program penanaman pohon yang mendukung ketahanan energi dan pengurangan emisi gas rumah kaca. Kali ini, mereka berkolaborasi dengan Pemerintah Kabupaten Bangka, Masyarakat Energi Terbarukan Indonesia (METI), dan PLN Bangka Belitung untuk menanam 1500 pohon angsana di Taman Energi Balai Karya, Sungailiat, pada Jumat (28/2/2025).
Penanaman ribuan pohon angsana ini bukan sekadar seremonial, melainkan langkah nyata PT Timah dalam mendukung target transisi energi nasional. Ketua Bidang III METI, Ir. Widi Pancono, mengungkapkan bahwa program ini sejalan dengan upaya pemerintah mengurangi subsidi energi. “Kebun energi ini memberikan dampak ganda, perbaikan lingkungan dan pemberdayaan ekonomi masyarakat,” ujarnya. Masyarakat nantinya dapat terlibat dalam pengelolaan hasil woodchip atau limbah kayu dari pohon-pohon ini.
Pohon angsana dipilih karena kemampuannya menyerap karbon dioksida, menghasilkan oksigen, dan mencegah erosi. Selain itu, pohon ini relatif mudah dirawat dan cocok dengan kondisi tanah Bangka. “Jenis angsana bisa tumbuh pesat di Bangka. Dahan-dahannya bisa diolah menjadi bahan baku woodchip, mendukung target penurunan emisi CO2,” jelas Widi. Ia menambahkan, pohon angsana setinggi 10 meter dapat menghasilkan oksigen yang cukup untuk 200 orang per hari.
Langkah PT Timah ini mendapat apresiasi dari berbagai pihak, termasuk PLN. Asmen Operasi Pemeliharaan dan Pembangkit PT PLN Persero UPK Babel, Fajri Hutazami, menyatakan bahwa program ini mendukung program co-firing PLN, yaitu pemanfaatan biomassa sebagai bahan bakar pembangkit listrik. “Ini adalah sinergi BUMN yang sangat positif,” katanya. PLN menargetkan penggunaan 60.000 ton woodchip di PLTU Air Anyir pada tahun 2025, dan ketersediaan bahan baku sangat penting untuk mencapai target tersebut.
“Jika kegiatan penanaman seperti ini tidak dilakukan, produksi woodchip bisa terputus,” ujar Fajri. Oleh karena itu, ia sangat berterima kasih kepada PT Timah atas dukungan dan inisiatifnya. Program ini diharapkan dapat membantu PLN memenuhi kebutuhan bahan baku woodchip dan mempercepat transisi energi.
Departement Head Corporate Communication PT Timah, Anggi Siahaan, menegaskan bahwa perusahaan telah melakukan berbagai inisiatif untuk mendukung ketahanan energi dan pengurangan karbon. “Inisiatif ini tidak hanya berdampak positif bagi lingkungan, tetapi juga memperkuat daya saing perusahaan di era ekonomi hijau,” ujarnya. PT Timah berkomitmen untuk terus berkontribusi dalam pembangunan berkelanjutan.
Program penanaman pohon ini diharapkan menjadi contoh bagi perusahaan lain untuk turut serta dalam menjaga lingkungan dan mendukung ketahanan energi nasional. Kolaborasi antara PT Timah, pemerintah, dan berbagai pihak lainnya menjadi kunci keberhasilan dalam mewujudkan Indonesia yang lebih hijau dan berkelanjutan.(MJ01)
