PANGKALPINANG,PERKARANEWS – Mengelola lahan bekas tambang menjadi lahan produktif merupakan salah satu bentuk pengelolaan lingkungan berkelanjutan yang dilakukan PT Timah.
Bersama kelompok Kelompok Tani Pemuda Harapan Desa Belo Laut, Bangka Barat, PT Timah mengelola lahan bekas tambang menjadi lahan yang dimanfaatkan untuk kegiatan Agroforestri
Kegiatan agroforestri yang dilakukan yakni penanaman pohon keras, tanaman sayur-sayuran dan buah-buahan yang ditanam di lahan bekas tambang. Program ini juga sejalan dengan kegiatan pemberdayaan kelompok masyarakat di lingkar tambang.
Ketua Kelompok Tani Pemuda Harapan, Ananda Rahmat mengatakan sebagai penggiat tanaman keras dirinya mengaku mengetahui struktur tanah bekas tambang. Sehingga mereka berniat untuk memanfaatkan lahan bekas tambang untuk menanam tanaman seperti durian, alpukat dan lainnya.
Tak dipungkirinya, mengelola lahan bekas tambang untuk lahan pertanian memang tidak mudah. Perlu perawatan khusus, agar hasilnya bisa maksimal.
“Perlu penangganan khusus, perawatan setiap hari, untuk mengubah kembali lahan bekas tambah agar kembali produktif untuk ditanam dengan buah-buahan. Tanaman mendapat perhatian khusus dan diberikan pupuk yang cocok dengan struktur tanah,” jelasnya.
Ananda Rahmat mengatakan, mereka beruntung karena mendapatkan dukungan dari PT Timah untuk mengelola lahan bekas tambang ini. Sehingga mereka lebih mudah dan terbantu dari sisi peralatan.
“Kami mendapatkan dukungan dari perhatian dari PT Timah untuk mengembangkan usaha agroforestri di lahan bekas tambang. PT Timah lalu membantu alat berat, mesin pompa air , serta bantuan rumah kompos dan pondok,” terangnya.
Dengan adanya dukungan dari PT Timah memberikan motovasi bagi mereka untuk terus mengembangkan kegiatan pertanian agroforesti di lahan bekas tambang.
“Bantuan PT Timah tentunya membuat Kelompok Tani kami lebih bersemangat, bergairah mencapai tujuan menjadikan lahan tambang produktif, dan ingin untuk memperluas menghijaukan kembali lahan bekas tambang lainnya,” ucapnya.
Kedepan, Ia berharap PT Timah dapat mendukung usaha mereka dan melakukan pembinaan sehingga bisa memberikan dampak yang lebih luas bagi anggota kelompok dan masyarakat sekitar.
