KUNDUR,PERKARANEWS – Memeringati Hari Lingkungan Hidup Sedunia Tahun 2025, PT Timah Tbk melaluil Division Area Kundur menggelar kegiatan bersih pantai dan juga menanam pohon cemara di kawasan Pantai Teluk Dalam, Kundur, Kabupaten Karimun, Provinsi Kepulauan Riau, Rabu (4/6/2025).
Penanaman pohon dan kegiatan bersih pantai dengan mengumpulkan sampah plastik tidak hanya bertujuan untuk memeringati momen Hari Lingkungan Hidup, tetapi merupakan langkah nyata PT Timah dalam mendukung pelestarian ekosistem pesisir.
Pada tahun 2025 ini, United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) telah menetapkan tema global Hari Lingkungan Hidup yakni ‘Ending Plastic Pollution, atau “Hentikan Polusi Plastik’
Melalui kegiatan bersih pantai dan memungut sampah plastik ini, PT Timah juga sekaligus mengedukasi masyarakat untuk mengurangi penggunaan sampah plastik untuk mengurangi polusi plastik yang telah menjadi masalah global.
Departement Head Corporate Communication PT Timah, Anggi Siahaan mengatakan rangkaian kegiatan peringatan Hari Lingkungan Hidup Sedunia, PT Timah melaksanakan berbagai kegiatan seperti apel peringatan Hari Lingkungan Hidup Sedunia yang dilaksanakan di wilayah operasional perusahaan.
“PT Timah berkomitmen untuk melaksanakan pengelolaan lingkungan yang berkelanjutan. Momen Peringatan Hari Lingkungan Hidup ini PT Timah melaksanakan berbagai kegiatan seperti bersih pantai dan juga menanam pohon sebagai upaya untuk menjaga eksosistem pesisir,” kata Anggi.
Ketua Nelayan Dusun IV Desa Kundur Amrizal yang ikut pada kegiatan tersebut mengapresiasi langkah yang dilakukan karyawan PT Timah di Division Area Kundur yang telah melakukan bersih pantai dan juga menanam pohon.
“PT Timah telah berbuat banyak untuk masyarakat dan juga lingkungan sehingga kita masyarakat sangat terbantu dengan keberadaaan Perusahaan di sini,” katanya.
“Untuk sampah terutama plastik memang banyak disekitar pantai ini dan kebanyakan sampah bawaan dari air laut saat pasang. Kalau sampah di sini masyarakat sudah mulai sadar sehingga mereka membuang sampah pada tempat tempat yang telah ditentukan,” ceritanya.
Menurutnya, bukan kali ini saja PT Timah melaksanakan penanaman pohon tapi juga sudah sering dilakukan seperti penanaman mangrove dan tanaman produktif lainnya.
“Penanaman yang dilakukan memang sangat diperlukan untuk menjaga supaya garis pantai tidak abrasi, karena disekitar sini banyak rumah warga. Kami berharap PT Timah dapat terus melibatkan masyarakat dalam kegiatan ini sehingga bisa mengedukasi secara langsung untuk menjaga kebersihan terutama sampah plastik yang memberikan dampak negatif bagi kesehatan,” ucapnya.
Senada, Ketua Rt.018 Dusun IV, Dedy mengapresiasi PT Timah yang telah memperhatikan lingkungan dengan melaksanakan berbagai kegiatan seperti penanaman mangrove, pelepasan kepiting dan juga pemasangan penahan abrasi.
“Program pengelolaan yang dilakukan PT Timah ini manfaatnya telah kami rasakan. Semoga kedepan PT Timah semakin sukes dan berkembang,” tutupnya.(Yuko)
