PANGKALPINANG,PERKARANEWS-PT Timah secara konsisten melakukan penanaman mangrove sebagai upaya pengelolaan lingkungan yang berkelanjutan. Penanaman mangrove dilakukan di wilayah operasional perusahaan.
Program penanaman mangrove terus digalakkan PT Timah, seperti yang dilaksanakan di wilasi Kundur. PT Timah menanam 2500 mangrove jenis bakau di sekitar Pantai Gemuruh, Desa Gemuruh, Kecamatan Kundur Barat, Selasa 13 Agustus 2024.
Mangrove memiliki banyak manfaat untuk ekosistem pesisir diantaranya mencegah abrasi, menekan emisis dan memberikan dampak ekonomi bagi masyarakat sekitar.
Program penanaman mangrove yang dilakukan PT Timah juga sejalan dengan program pemerintah untuk merehabilitasi dan meningkatkan ekosistem mangrove.
Dalam melakukan penanaman mangrove tersebut PT Timah turut melibatkan masyarakat sekitar. Hal ini sebagai bentuk edukasi tentang pentingnya mangrove.
Rasyid (65) salah satu warga yang ikut kegiatan penanaman menyampaikan dirinya merasa senang PT Timah terus peduli terhadap lingkungan di wilayah mereka dengan rutin melakukan penanaman mangrove.
“Kegiatan ini akan memiliki manfaat untuk masyarakat nelayan. Saya merasa senang dapat dilibatkan pada kegiatan ini sehingga saya ada penghasilan tambahan selain dari hasil menjaring ikan,” katanya.
Senada, Sekretaris Desa Gemuruh Riduan mengapresiasi PT Timah yang telah melakukan kegiatan penanaman ini.
“Terima kasih PT Timah dalam beberapa tahun ini terus memberikan perhatian kepada warga Desa Gemuruh. Semoga dengan adanya kegiatan ini dapat mengurangi dampak abrasi disekitar pantai gemuruh yang memang sudah cukup memprihatinkan,”katanya.(*)(Yuko)
