BANGKA,PERKARANEWS – Penerimaan siswa Kelas Beasiswa atau Pemali Boarding School PT Timah tahun 2024/2025 memasuki babak akhir. Usai mengikuti beberapa tahapan seleksi, sebanyak 36 siswa dinyatakan lolos dan berhak mengikuti pendidikan di SMU Negeri 1 Pemali Kabupaten Bangka. Seremoni serah terima siswa baru dilaksanakan di Gedung Cassiterite, Learning Center PT Timah Pemali, Kabupaten Bangka, Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung, Rabu (10/7/2024).
Heru Khailani, Plt. Kepala Cabang Dinas Pendidikan Wilayah II Kepulauan Bangka Belitung, mengapresiasi PT Timah atas kontribusi dan dukungannya terhadap dunia pendidikan khususnya di Propinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung dan juga Propinsi Kepulauan Riau “Alhamdullilah, tahapan dalam penerimaan siswa baru berjalan dengan lancar,” ujarnya.
Ia berharap, sekolah dan juga asrama tempat para siswa menginap dapat menjadi wadah bagi mereka untuk belajar sungguh-sungguh dan mengembangkan potensi diri.
“Dengan beragam fasilitas yang ada di sekolah dan asrama, kami berharap anak-anak didik ini dapat mengembangkan minat dan bakatnya, serta meningkatkan potensi mereka untuk meraih prestasi,” ujar Heru.
Hal senada disampaikan oleh Elfina, Mpd selaku Kepala SMA Negeri 1 Pemali. Ia juga mengapresiasi program pendidikan dari PT Timah. “Ini merupakan suatu program yang luar biasa, karena dapat memberikan pelayanan pendidikan secara luas kepada siswa yang kurang mampu,” ujarnya.
Pemali Boarding School (awalnya bernama Kelas Unggulan) pertama kali dilaunching oleh PT Timah pada tahun 2000. Program ini menyasar para pelajar SMP yang telah lulus untuk melanjutkan pendidikan di jenjang Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) di SMAN 1 Pemali, dan diperuntukan bagi pelajar yang berprestasi, namun kurang beruntung secara ekonomi.
Setiap tahunnya program kelas beasiswa ini selalu disambut antusias oleh para pelajar di Bangka, Belitung, dan juga Kepulauan Riau. Tahun 2023 lalu sebanyak 257 peserta ikut mendaftar dalam program kelas beasiswa PT Timah ini.
Hingga saat ini, Program Pemali Boarding School telah meluluskan sekitar 851 alumni, tersebar di dalam dan luar negeri dan berkiprah di berbagai bidang pekerjaan.
Salah satu tujuan utama dari upaya anggota holding Industri Pertambangan MIND ID PT Timah ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya manusia di lingkar tambang dan juga menekan angka putus sekolah.
Sebelumnya, para siswa yang telah dinyatakan lulus dalam program ini telah menjalani sejumlah rangkaian tes yakni; seleksi administrasi, survei lapangan, tes potensi akademik, psikotes, wawancara, Analisa psikologi klinis dan validasi dokumen dan tes kesehatan.(Yuko)
