Kisah Heroik Tony Wen, Penyelundup Pejuang Kemerdekaan Asal Sungailiat

BANGKA,PERKARANEWS.COM – Sejarah perjuangan kemerdekaan Indonesia tak hanya diukir oleh para pahlawan nasional yang namanya tercatat dalam buku-buku sekolah. Di balik layar, banyak sosok tak terduga yang turut andil, bahkan dengan cara yang tak lazim. Salah satunya adalah Tony Wen (Boen Kin To), seorang Tionghoa asal Sungailiat, Bangka, yang kisahnya diungkap oleh sejarawan dan budayawan ternama, Dato’ Akhmad Elvian.

Menurut Elvian, pada masa revolusi kemerdekaan, Bangka menjadi lokasi strategis untuk kegiatan penyelundupan. Terutama pada periode November 1945 hingga November 1946, jalur laut Bangka ramai dilalui kapal-kapal penyelundup.

“Kabar angin menyebutkan, bahwa Pulau Kelapa dan Pongok di Bangka Selatan adalah pos untuk perdagangan senjata antara Singapura dan Banten, wilayah Republik,” tulis Elvian.

Tony Wen, yang lahir di Sungailiat pada 26 April 1911, dikenal sebagai salah satu penyelundup ulung. Bersama Lie Kwet Tjeng, ia membantu Republik Indonesia dengan memperdagangkan candu untuk mendapatkan senjata di Singapura.

Salah satu misinya yang paling terkenal adalah pada 7 Maret 1948, di mana ia berhasil membawa candu ke Singapura dari pantai Popoh, dekat Tulungagung.

Tak berhenti di situ, Tony Wen juga berhasil membawa 2,5 ton candu ke Singapura menggunakan pesawat amfibi Catalina, yang uangnya kemudian dibelikan senjata. Atas aksinya ini, ia bahkan sempat ditahan di Singapura.

Perjalanan hidup Tony Wen sungguh luar biasa. Setelah mengenyam pendidikan dasar di Sungailiat, ia melanjutkan studi di Singapura, kemudian kuliah di U Ciang University, Shanghai, dan Liang Nam University, Canton.

Kembali ke Jakarta, ia menjadi guru olahraga dan kapten kesebelasan. Pada masa pendudukan Jepang, ia bekerja sebagai juru bahasa di pusat intelijen Jepang.

Setelah kemerdekaan, Tony Wen pindah ke Solo dan memimpin barisan pejuang Tionghoa untuk membantu logistik pasukan Republik, bekerja sama dengan Barisan Pelopor di bawah komando Sudiro.

Jasanya dalam bidang olahraga dan politik juga tak bisa dipandang sebelah mata. Ia pernah menjadi anggota Komite Olimpiade Indonesia, pengurus PSSI, dan anggota Konstituante dari PNI.

Tony Wen wafat pada 30 Mei 1963 dan dimakamkan di Menteng Pulo, Jakarta. Untuk mengenang jasanya, Pemerintah Kota Pangkalpinang mengabadikan namanya menjadi nama Jalan Tony Wen.(Yuko)
