BELITUNG TIMUR, PERKARANEWS.COM – Untuk menjaga ekosistem laut dan meningkatkan hasil tangkapan nelayan, PT Timah bersama kelompok nelayan Pesisir Pulau Buku Limau menenggelamkan sebanyak 36 unit atraktor cumi di Perairan Buku Limau, Kabupaten Belitung Timur pekan lalu.
Penenggelaman atraktor cumi oleh PT Timah ini diharapkan tidak hanya untuk menjaga ekosistem laut, tapi juga memberikan dampak ekonomi bagi nelayan sekitar. Harapannya atraktor cumi ini dapat menjadi rumah bagi para cumi sehingga memudahkan nelayan dalam menangkap cumi.
Sebelumnya, PT Timah juga melibatkan kelompok nelayan Pesisir Pulau Buku Limau untuk membuat atraktor cumi ini, sehingga bisa memberikan dampak ekonomi bagi nelayan.
Ketua Kelompok nelayan Pesisir Pulau Buku Limau Amirudin mengatakan, penenggelaman atraktor cumi ini memang sangat dibutuhkan karena selama ini untuk mendapatkan cumi mereka harus melaut jauh.
“Kami senang dengan adanya penenggelaman atraktor cumi ini, kalau nanti ini berhasil setelah dimonitoring kami tidak perlu lagi jauh-jauh untuk menangkap cumi. Selama ini kami harus melaut cukup jauh untuk bisa mendapatkan cumi,” katanya.
Menurutnya, keberadaan atraktor cumi ini tidak hanya bisa meningkatkan hasil tangkapan mereka tapi juga bisa menghemat penggunaan BBM untuk melaut.
“Selama ini kami kalau melaut jauh, butuh bahan bakarnya banyak dan semakin hari semakin mahal. Tapi dengan adanya atraktor cumi yang ditenggelamkan dengan jarak yang cuma 1 mil ini tentu selain lebih dekat kami juga bisa menghemat bahan bakar,” katanya.
Kedepan, Ia berharap program ini dapat terus berlanjut sehingga manfaatnya bisa dirasakan lebih banyak oleh nelayan.
Sementara itu, Sekretaris Desa Buku Limau Muhammad Agung mengapresiasi langkah PT Timah yang telah menggelamkan atraktor cumi di daerah mereka sehingga bisa memberikan manfaat bagi masyarakat nelayan.
“Sekitar 90 persen masyarakat berprofesi sebagai nelayan, harapan kami kedepannya mudah-mudahan bisa menambah pendapatan nelayan. Karena memang sejauh ini nelayan kami cukup jauh kalau mau menangkap cumi,” katanya. (Adv/Yuko)
