PANGKALPINANG,PERKARANEWS.COM – Sebuah meriam tua yang teronggok di Sungaibuluh, Distrik Jebus, Kabupaten Bangka, bukan sekadar benda mati. Meriam ini adalah saksi bisu kejayaan masa lalu, jejak pertahanan yang kuat, serta denyut nadi industri pertambangan timah yang pernah menghidupkan Bangka.

Keberadaan benteng atau kota tanah di Sungaibuluh, khususnya di Kampung Sungaibuluh, memiliki arti strategis yang tak terbantahkan, terutama dalam menjaga parit-parit pertambangan timah milik Sultan Palembang dari campur tangan asing.

Sejarah mencatat, pada tanggal 18 Juli 1803, sebuah ekspedisi Belanda yang dipimpin oleh Pangeran Ade, putra kedua Sultan Palembang (Sultan Muhammad Bahauddin), menemukan fakta menarik di Sungaibuluh. Berbeda dengan pandangan umum, Pangeran Ade tidak mengelola sendiri tambang timah di wilayah Songebulo (Sungai Bulo). Justru, tambang tersebut dikerjakan oleh 52 orang kuli Cina yang piawai.

Laporan historis dari Thomas Horsfield, Esq. M. D. dalam karyanya yang berjudul “Report on the Island of Bangka” (Bagian III, Gambaran Tambang Timah di Bangka, halaman 796), memberikan gambaran detail tentang kekayaan timah di Sungaibuluh. Di distrik ini, terdapat dua tambang besar, yaitu Tayu dan Hohin, serta dua tambang kecil, Sundi dan Hapsun.

Tambang besar Tayu menjadi tulang punggung produksi dengan mempekerjakan 28 orang penambang. Selain itu, dua tambang kecil masing-masing mempekerjakan 7 pekerja. Uniknya, di Sungaibuluh juga terdapat percobaan baru untuk membuka kembali tambang yang terbengkalai di Hohin, dengan sekelompok pekerja yang dikontrak khusus untuk tujuan tersebut.

Secara keseluruhan, industri pertambangan di Sungaiibuluh dan sekitarnya mampu menghasilkan 1500 ingot logam timah per tahunnya. Sebuah angka yang fantastis pada masanya, menunjukkan betapa strategisnya wilayah ini dalam peta ekonomi timah global.
Asal Nama Sungaiibuluh: Kearifan Lokal yang Terjaga

Nama ini berasal dari dominasi tanaman spesifik di lingkungan lokal, buluh atau aur atau bambu. Keberadaan tanaman ini tidak hanya menjadi ciri khas, tetapi juga cerminan kearifan lokal dalam menamai sebuah wilayah berdasarkan bentang alam dan ekosistemnya.

Meriam di Sungaiibuluh hari ini mungkin hanya terdiam, namun ia terus berbicara tentang masa lalu yang gemilang. Sebuah pengingat akan pentingnya menjaga warisan sejarah, agar generasi mendatang dapat terus belajar dari jejak-jejak peradaban yang pernah berjaya di Bumi Bangka.(Yuko)
