PANGKALPINANG,PERKARANEWS – Gabungan Kelompok Tani (Gapoktan) Sinar Baru di Desa Paku, Kecamatan Payung, Kabupaten Bangka Selatan, terus menunjukkan perkembangan positif sebagai kelompok petani cabai yang sukses. Dukungan dari PT Timah Tbk menjadi salah satu faktor utama keberhasilan mereka.
Awalnya, para petani di Gapoktan Sinar Baru beralih ke budidaya cabai karena penghasilan dari sektor lain seperti lada dan karet mengalami penurunan. Dengan masa panen yang relatif singkat, sekitar 100 hari, pertanian cabai dianggap lebih menguntungkan dan memiliki perputaran ekonomi yang lebih cepat.
Sejak didirikan pada tahun 2015, Gapoktan Sinar Baru kini menaungi 14 kelompok tani dengan total anggota mencapai 350 petani. Fokus pada budidaya cabai semakin diperkuat sejak tahun 2023 dengan adanya dukungan modal dan penyuluhan dari PT Timah selama dua tahun terakhir. Dukungan ini membantu para petani meningkatkan produktivitas pertanian mereka.
Ketua Gapoktan Sinar Baru, Amir, mengungkapkan bahwa tantangan utama dalam budidaya cabai adalah hama dan cuaca yang tidak menentu. Namun, dengan pengetahuan yang diperoleh dari pelatihan yang diberikan oleh PT Timah, mereka mampu mengatasi masalah tersebut. “Tantangan terbesar yang kami alami dalam budidaya cabai adalah hama, jamur, serta kondisi cuaca yang kadang tidak menentu yang bisa membuat tanaman cabai mati atau membusuk,” ujarnya.
Meskipun menghadapi tantangan, para petani terus berupaya mengatasi kendala tersebut dengan menerapkan teknik budidaya yang lebih baik dan memperkuat ketahanan tanaman mereka. Keseriusan Gapoktan Sinar Baru dalam budidaya cabai membuahkan hasil, dengan peningkatan produksi dan kemampuan memenuhi kebutuhan pasar.
Hasil panen cabai dari Gapoktan Sinar Baru disalurkan ke pengepul sayuran lokal di Desa Paku sebelum dipasarkan ke pasar-pasar besar di wilayah sekitar. Hingga saat ini, kelompok tani ini telah berhasil panen sebanyak delapan kali. Harga cabai dari petani saat ini berkisar Rp70.000 per kilogram, sementara harga di pasar bisa mencapai Rp90.000 per kilogram.
Dengan mayoritas anggota yang kini mandiri dalam budidaya cabai, Gapoktan Sinar Baru optimis bahwa sektor pertanian ini akan terus berkembang. Dengan dukungan berkelanjutan, para petani berharap dapat meningkatkan produksi, memperluas pasar, dan menciptakan ketahanan ekonomi yang lebih baik bagi masyarakat petani di Bangka Selatan.(MJ01)
