Orang tua bisa membicarakannya dulu dengan mereka, termasuk membicarakan mengenai konsekuensi jika mereka melanggar aturan tersebut;
- Ajarkan anak untuk melindungi privasi dengan cara:
-Hindari memberikan nama, nomor telepon, alamat email, alamat rumah, sekolah atau foto tanpa izin Anda.
-Hindari membuka email dari orang yang tidak dikenal tidak merespons pesan yang mengganggu menolak bertemu dengan orang yang dikenal melalui internet.
- Perhatikan lokasi komputer. Jangan tempatkan komputer di kamar pribadi anak, tempatkanlah komputer pada tempat umum untuk mempermudah memonitor penggunaannya;
- Jadilah sahabatnya. Anjurkan anak untuk memberitahu jika mereka menjumpai hal-hal yang membuatnya tidak nyaman. Yakinkan tidak akan berlebihan, menyalahkan atau melarangnya membuka internet;
- Setting mesin pencari agar mampu memblokir situs yang memuat konten seksual. Search engine (mesin pencari) yang ada saat ini menawarkan penyaringan yang bisa diklik di Preferences/Safe Search Filtering;
- Kenali situs dan aplikasi yang aman untuk usianya. Orang tua bisa mencari situs dan aplikasi yang cocok untuk usia anaknya dengan konten yang bervariasi seperti tentang film, musik, sejarah, ilmu pengetahuan, dan lain-lain.
