World Ocean Assessment, Momentum Perkenalkan Pariwisata Belitung ke Dunia

SIJUK, PerkaraNews.com – Dalam rangka The Regional Workshop World Ocean Assessment (WOA) 2022 di Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung (Kep. Babel) sebuah kehormatan menjadi tuan rumah pertemuan internasional yang bertajuk gala dinner “Makan Bedulang”, bertempat di Museum Maritim Belitung, Selasa (13/12/2022).

Seperti diketahui, Provinsi Kep. Babel sebelumnya ditunjuk sebagai salah satu tuan rumah Development Working Group G20. Di tahun yang sama, Pulau Belitung dipercaya kembali menjadi tuan rumah. Di acara Gala Dinner World Ocean Assessment (WOA) 2022 disambut dengan meriah oleh delegasi 21 negara yang hadir di acara tersebut.

Setibanya dilokasi, Penjabat (Pj) Gubernur Kep. Babel, Ridwan Djamaluddin dan 21 delegasi negara disambut dengan tarian selamat datang dan diajak keliling museum dengan memperkenalkan sejarah maritim dan keanekaragam laut di Kep. Babel.

Letak Pulau Belitong yang strategis di persimpangan jalur pelayaran dunia melalui Selat Malaka dan Laut China Selatan, didukung pemandangan alam yang indah serta fasilitas yang memadai, menjadikan daerah ini layak menjadi lokasi pertemuan atau tujuan wisata favorit di Indonesia.

Regional Workshop World Ocean Assessment (WOA) 2022 merupakan kesempatan bagi Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung untuk memperkenalkan potensi maritim dan kelautannya. Momen rangkaian acara ini menjadi kesempatan bagi Belitung untuk lebih memperkenalkan diri kepada dunia internasional dari perspektif kelautannya.

Dalam sambutannya, Pj Gubernur Ridwan mengatakan “The sea, as a life support system, has many benefits for mankind, starting from a transportation route, a source of food, a source of energy and mining, trade, as well as defense and security. Marine biodiversity is a major source of protein for more than one billion people worldwide. It is estimated that more than 200 million people in Asia and the Pacific and three billion people worldwide depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods. (Laut sebagai sistem penyangga kehidupan memiliki banyak manfaat bagi umat manusia, mulai dari jalur transportasi, sumber pangan, sumber energi dan pertambangan, perdagangan, serta pertahanan dan keamanan. Keanekaragaman hayati laut merupakan sumber utama protein bagi lebih dari satu miliar orang di seluruh dunia. Diperkirakan lebih dari 200 juta orang di Asia dan Pasifik dan tiga miliar orang di seluruh dunia bergantung pada keanekaragaman hayati laut dan pesisir untuk penghidupan mereka.),” ujarnya

Dirinya juga menambahkan, terlepas dari kenyataan tentang keanekaragaman hayati dan jasa ekosistem, perikanan yang tidak berkelanjutan telah menjadi salah satu ancaman terbesar terhadap keanekaragaman hayati laut di Provinsi Bangka Belitung dipengaruhi oleh aktivitas manusia yang mengancam ekosistem laut.

Menurut Pj Gubernur Ridwan, saat ini ada berbagai tantangan pengelolaan pesisir dan laut. Akan tetapi, Pemprov Babel akan terus mengupayakan ancaman dengan menekankan mikroplastik, limbah dan sampah di laut yang mengancam keberagaman hayati dan rantai makanan.

Sebagai tuan rumah, Pj Gubernur Ridwan Djamaluddin mengucapkan terima kasih kepada seluruh delegasi, yang telah hadir dan berpartisipasi dalam Regional Workshop World Ocean Assessment (WOA) 2022 ini.

“Saya berharap diskusi ini dapat membangun collaboration dan partnership untuk terus meningkatkan sinergi dan kerja sama yang lebih efektif dalam mencari solusi masalah kelautan dan maritim. Hal ini juga untuk menjamin ketersediaan sumber daya perikanan yang berkelanjutan di masa mendatang,” ujarnya

Pj Gubernur Kep.Babel mengajak peserta delegasi yang hadir berbagi satu pandangan yang sama tentang pentingnya laut untuk kehidupan.

“Kita harus berkomitmen untuk melestarikan dan melindungi laut di Provinsi Kep. Babel untuk generasi mendatang,” ujarnya.

Tidak lupa, Pj. Gubernur Ridwan Djamaluddin mengundang seluruh delegasi untuk menikmati dan berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan lain, seperti penanaman karang, pelepasan bayi penyu yang baru menetas, lompat pulau (pergi dari satu pulau ke pulau lain).

Tidak hanya itu, para delegasi diajak untuk menikmati Wisata Museum Bahari Belitung, melihat koleksi barang-barang dari kapal yang tenggelam di perairan Belitung pada masa lampau. Kemudian acara dilanjutkan dengan menyaksikan sunset di Geosite Pantai Tanjung Tinggi yang memiliki formasi bebatuan granit yang khas dan telah menjadi bagian dari UNESCO Global Geopark.
