Sebagai perusahaan yang bergerak di sektor dengan risiko tinggi, PT Timah menyadari betul bahwa keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja (K3) bukanlah sekadar pemenuhan regulasi. Lebih dari itu, SMKP telah menjadi bagian tak terpisahkan dari strategi perusahaan secara keseluruhan, dengan tujuan utama memastikan setiap aktivitas operasional berjalan dengan aman, efisien, serta mengedepankan aspek pelestarian lingkungan.
Penerapan SMKP oleh PT Timah berlandaskan pada regulasi yang berlaku, yakni Keputusan Menteri Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral (Kepmen ESDM) Nomor 1827 K/30/MEM/2018. Hal ini menunjukkan keseriusan perusahaan dalam mengadopsi standar keselamatan tertinggi dalam setiap tahapan operasional pertambangannya.
Selain implementasi sistem, PT Timah juga gencar memperkuat budaya K3 di seluruh tingkatan perusahaan, termasuk para mitra usaha. Upaya ini diwujudkan melalui berbagai program pelatihan rutin dan peningkatan kesadaran karyawan akan pentingnya keselamatan dalam bekerja. Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, PT Timah bahkan melakukan transformasi budaya K3 dengan mengadaptasi program-program sebelumnya seperti Mucak K3, Budaya 5R, dan SAFETINS 5R agar lebih selaras dengan proses bisnis perusahaan yang dinamis.
Komitmen PT Timah terhadap keselamatan juga tercermin dalam investasi pada teknologi dan inovasi. Perusahaan terus mengembangkan sistem pengawasan tambang yang lebih canggih, melakukan mitigasi risiko secara proaktif, serta membangun sistem peringatan dini yang efektif untuk mencegah potensi terjadinya kecelakaan kerja.
Untuk memastikan bahwa implementasi SMKP berjalan sesuai harapan, PT Timah secara rutin melakukan audit internal dan mengikuti proses sertifikasi. Langkah ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas penerapan SMKP baik di lingkungan internal perusahaan maupun di seluruh area operasional mitra usaha.
Baru-baru ini, PT Timah bekerja sama dengan Pusat Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia Geologi, Mineral, dan Batu Bara (PPSDM Geominerba) menyelenggarakan Pelatihan Implementasi SMKP Mineral dan Batubara bagi karyawan dan mitra usaha PT Timah Angkatan I.
