Keberhasilan ini, menurut Mexsi, berkat dukungan dan pembinaan dari PT Timah Tbk. Pemilihan tanaman sawit juga merupakan keinginan pemerintah desa agar lahan tersebut menghasilkan sesuatu yang bernilai untuk pendapatan asli desa.
“Agar ke depannya Desa Air Limau tidak lagi bergantung dari dana transfer pusat ke desa. Sehingga reklamasi yang dilakukan oleh PT Timah ini menjadi sumber pendapatan yang produktif,” ujarnya.
Mexsi berharap PT Timah dapat terus mendampingi mereka dalam mengembangkan potensi desa, termasuk memanfaatkan kolong-kolong bekas tambang untuk budidaya ikan dan lainnya. Ia juga mengapresiasi program-program PT Timah lainnya yang bermanfaat bagi masyarakat, seperti Budaya Menawam dan bantuan sosial.
Senada dengan Mexsi, Ketua Badan Permusyawaratan Desa (BPD) Air Limau, Imam, juga mengapresiasi program reklamasi PT Timah. Menurutnya, program ini dapat memberikan dampak ekonomi bagi masyarakat, terutama jika sawit diurus hingga panen.
